Poetry Corner II

A body broken, a spirit intact
Your hands swollen from a life of labor
Face may be worn and expression tired
but your love for family flows vigorously
Looking off with knowing eyes, prideful
of a life well lived, a doting great-grandfather
pleased by your growing bloodline
Your face shows time’s imprint
as tree stump rings unveal a redwood’s journey
Though your hourglass fights the effect of gravity
you savor each passing grain while content with your stay
The past may have taken you long ago
but your legend lives youthfully amongst the ones you love
