Poetry Corner VI: A Land of No Return

Upon entering, a shiver ripples
Up your lifeless spine
Your arrival staggered
Finding fault in your destination
The void, voiceless
Yet teeming with melody
No work here, no pain here
Serenity cradles you in a velvety blanket
While suffocating any misery that approaches
Once feared, now missed
Time has lost its meaning
A lifelong carrot dangling,
Propelling us forward
By now chewed and spit out
