So things have changed just a bit. Within thirty minutes of our expected arrival in Sydney the loudspeaker turned on to make another announcement, an announcement I expected to be like the rest, such as requesting that we wear our seat belts. A message filled the cabin that I was not prepared for. The Sydney airport had problems with its runways and would need at least another hour to prepare for any more arrivals. With depleting fuel, the pilot had no choice but to stop into Brisbane. So you’re saying I can stay in the airplane even longer or, if I’m lucky, sit around waiting in another airport terminal? Oh boy! After loitering just off the runway for far too long, they finally rolled to an open gate and told us a new crew would be flying in from Sydney to pick us up. Ideally the flight to Sydney would depart by 2:30 p.m. but we shall see about that one. They gave us a $15 food voucher to make up for it! Doesn’t even touch it.
