Thailand Day 78: A Whole Lotta Nada

Today involved sleeping in and beginning the day by Skypeing family and friends back home. Skype is an incredible invention. Without the ability to see my family in real time seeing their expressions and warm smiles, I am not sure how long I would be able to travel. Skypeing for a little while every few weeks has been great to check up on them and know that although we may be thousands of miles away, I can feel like I am in the family room sitting next to them. For the rest of the day I joined two Germans to the beach for some swim time and sunshine. Not much to say about. Now I can feel like I am on vacation. When I came into Khao Lak, at first I planned on exploring some of the nearby area, possibly go for a hike in a national park or explore some other beaches. At the end of the day, I am so glad I can say to myself that I have accomplished nothing throughout the course of today and I am perfectly content with that. Watching a movie or surfing the web, just letting it all go, can be therapeutic. The hardest part of traveling is always the need to be on. For once, I needed to power down and recharge my batteries for the countries that lay ahead. The end of the night was not so relaxing. I stayed up late into the night stressing over the purchase of airplane tickets to Myanmar. Ideally, I would leave Khao Lak after my scuba trip and head north to Bangkok for a trip flight to Yangon, the capital of Myanmar, but my visa is running out and I need to get out of the country as soon as possible. I researched and ran through every possible scenario to save as much money as I could which drove me further and further crazy in the head. Enough was enough, eventually I booked the next flight I saw realizing that all the frustration and worry is not worth the money. After that passed, peace of mind swept me into the night.
